JSC “Stroytransgaz” have successfully completed testing of a second line of the Zapoliarnoe – Urengoy gas pipeline, section km 65-166.7, in West Siberia where for the first time in the world practice pneumatic technology of testing of pipelines was used in permafrost conditions by using boosters for the purpose.

These boosters allow one to regulate the pressure of the supplied gas on the inlet and outlet of the pipeline and pump the remaining gas after completion of the tests back to the gas pipeline under operation. This technology ensures considerable savings of natural gas and meets higher ecological requirements as compared to testing with air or water. The most important advantage of the elaborated technology is the possibility to carry out strength and leak tests of the pipelines in any weather conditions. This technology can also be widely used during testing of the gas lines under operation after performance of repair works.
