Today JSC “Stroytransgaz” starts drilling of the first exploratory well 2 500 meters deep at the Zubtsov district of the Belsk region of the Tver area with the aim to investigate the prospects of gas-and-oil bearing capacity of the region.
The results of the exploratory boring will be made available by the end of this year. At this period of time it is too early to judge about the quantitative assessment of the reserves and economic efficiency of the Project. However the forecast of discovery of oil and gas reserves in this area and the availability of the developed infrastructure allow one to speak about high economic efficiency of the Project. “Stroytransgaz” won the tender for geological exploration of the Zubtsov district in 1998. This district includes the territories of Belsk, Zubtsov, Olenin, Rjev and Staritsa regions. In 2001 the specialists of JSC “Stroytransgaz” completed the first stage of geological exploration works and the results allowed them to mark the zones of possible gas-and-oil bearing areas and the places of concentration of hydrocarbons. In accordance with the license agreement it is necessary to carry out regional geological and geophysical (including seismic) research and drill three wells. The representatives of the administration of the Tver area, Belsk region and Committee on natural resources took part in the ceremony of commencement of the works on drilling of the first prospecting well.
