During the official visit to India of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, in the framework of the Russian-Indian economic cooperation the consortium consisting of OAO Stroytransgaz and Essar Construction Ltd concluded a contract with Hy-Grade Pellets Ltd for construction of a slurry line 260 km long in the Indian state of Andra Pradesh.
The slurry line is meant for transportation of iron ore mix from the ore concentrating mill in the town of Bayladila to the steel plant in Visakhapatnam. The scheduled period of construction makes up 18 months. In accordance with the terms of the contract Stroytransgaz ensures the project management, it will depute qualified specialists and supply special heavy construction equipment and machinery. Furthermore provision has been made for the use of local labour force and Indian suppliers of materials. Financing of the construction works is made by the Client of the project – the Indian company Hy-Grade Pellets Ltd. OAO Stroytransgaz has entered the Indian market at the beginning of this year. In August the company formed a consortium with the Indian firm Essar Construction Ltd for joint construction activities in India and in the Middle East. In October 2002 Stroytransgaz together with the Indian company Gammon India Ltd. won a tender for construction of a water pipeline 114 km long in the town of Chennai (Madras).
