OAO Stroytransgaz and Corning Cable System GmbH &Co. KG, a subsidiary of the old American company Corning Incorporated, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on provision of telecommunication lines and facilities required for implementation of projects of oil and gas industry.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Leonid Bokhanovsky, the First Vice-President of OAO Stroytransgaz, and Rudolf Stahl, Senior Vice-President of Corning Cable System GmbH &Co. KG. “Today reliability of operation of modern industrial projects including oil and gas ones depends much on the quality of telecommunication systems. Direct contacts with leading foreign companies allow us to realize an integrated approach to high requirements of our clients starting from designing a communication line to handing-over a project on a turn-key basis” - considers Leonid Bokhanovsky. The Corning company was established more than 150 years ago. In 1970 the company invented optical fiber with step-index profile and this is a basis for modern telecommunication systems. At present Corning Incorporated is the world leader on the market of fiber optic cables. Stroytransgaz, a leading Russian contractor on the international market of oil and gas development have used the products of the Corning company – fiber optic cable and the corresponding communication line accessories during construction of the Kenkiyak-Atyrau crude oil pipeline 450 km long in Kazakhstan.
