OAO Stroytransgaz became the first Russian company which obtained a right to participate in the tender for construction of gas pipeline in Oman.
The state oil company Petroleum Development Oman has entered Stroytransgaz in the short list of companies invited to participate in the competition with the aim to have the right to construct the “Central Oman – Sur” gas pipeline 270 km long 48” in diameter on the coast of Arabian Sea.
The Customer of the project is the government of Sultanate of Oman represented by the state oil company Petroleum Development Oman.
“Participation of OAO Stroytransgaz in the tender in Oman is a significant event, for we are dealing with the first case in the history concerning entrance of a Russian company to the oil and gas market of the Persian Gulf which was previously inaccessible to us” said Leonid Bokhanovsky the First Vice-President of OAO Stroytransgaz. Then he noted that “the dominant positions in the region were occupied in the past and are occupied at present by leading western and Asian companies who are well known in the region and are actually monopolists. In order to win the tender with their participation we have to work hard. Even the fact itself that our company has successfully gone through rather a complicated procedure of registration and prequalification and has reached the final of the competition is quite impressive. We shall do our outmost to achieve success”.
On August 2, 2003 a delegation of OAO Stroytransgaz arrived in Oman where together with the representatives of other companies will have a look at the route of the pipeline.
