OAO Stroytransgaz has completed construction of the first stage of the third Complex Gas Treatment Unit (Complex-3C) at the Zapoliarnoe gas-oil-condensate field which is one of the largest gas-oil-condensate field in the world.

OAO Stroytransgaz has completed construction of the first stage of the third Complex Gas Treatment Unit (Complex-3C) at the Zapoliarnoe gas-oil-condensate field which is one of the largest gas-oil-condensate field in the world.
Yesterday at 8.00 am gas was delivered to Complex-3C and complex testing of the Unit was carried out. Commissioning of the first stage of Complex-3C allows one to increase additionally the volume of gas production by 16 billion m3 of gas a year. In this case the total volume of production of the “blue fuel” at the Zapoliarnoe field will make up 84 billion m3 of gas a year.
As a whole the design for development of the Zapoliarnoe field includes construction of three complex gas treatment units. The first unit – Complex-1C was constructed by Stroytransgaz in September 2001, the second unit – Complex-2C was constructed in December 2002 and in September 2003 its capacity was brought to the design level.
The Client of the project is OOO Yamburggazdobycha, a subsidiary of OAO Gazprom. Commissioning of Complex-1C and Complex-2C allowed the Customer already in November 2003 to get past the point of producing one hundred billion cubic meters of gas from the beginning of operation of the field.
The First Vice President of Stroytransgaz Anatoly Gorelov, who is responsible for the construction stated the following: “Commissioning of the Zapoliarnoe field, the reserves of which are estimated at approximately 3.3 trillion cubic meters of gas, will allow Gazprom for the coming years to make up for the production decline at the old fields and ensure home gas production by 2010 in the volume of 655 billion cubic meters of gas in accordance with the “Energy strategy of Russia for the period up to 2020”.
The following companies of the OAO Stroytransgaz Holding participated in the construction of Complex-3C: affiliates of OAO Stroytransgaz in Urengoy, ZAO Urengoygazinvest, OAO Sibkomplektmontazh, OAO Arktikneftegazstroy, OAO Neftegazspetsstroy and OAO Severgazstroy.
The commissioned units Complex-1C, Complex-2C, Complex-3C have been constructed in strict conformity with the existing international construction standards for quality and equipped with the most up-to-date systems of automation, telecommunication and fire protection systems. Their production capacity is one of the largest in the world.
The approved construction plan of the second and third units provides for stage by stage construction of first commissioning complex and then of the second one.
The Vice President of Stroytransgaz Alexander Kapnik noted the following: “The normative period of construction of such projects is not less than 38 months. However the Customer Yamburggazdobycha faced us with a difficult task – to put the project into operation within 12 month period. This task was realized by us. There are no analogues of such unique units in the world. This is evidence of high professionalism of the builders of the Stroytransgaz Company and their capability to implement large scale, complicated and non-traditional projects at the highest technological level”.
OAO Stroytransgaz is planning to complete construction of the second commissioning complex – Complex-3C in September 2004 and this will allow OAO Gazprom to reach the design volume of production of the “blue fuel” at the Zapoliarnoe field which is equal to 100 billion m3 of gas a year.
