Today at five o’clock in the morning Moscow time Stroytransgaz completed installation of the last tie-in joint of a section charged with it of the third line of the Zapoliarnoe-Urengoy main gas pipeline.
The three-line main gas pipeline Zapoliarnoe-Urengoy has been designed for transportation of gas from the Zapoliarnoe gas-oil condensate field which is one of the largest gas-oil-condensate fields in the world. The route of the gas pipeline starts beyond the North polar circle and runs along the territory of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area and Tyumen region.
Construction of the main gas pipeline was carried out in complicated geological and climatic conditions. Considering the peculiarities of the relief OAO Stroytransgaz during construction of these three lines of the gas pipeline used 11 types of pipelaying incorporated in the design.
OAO Stroytransgaz is a general contractor for construction of the three-line Zapoliarnoe-Urengoy main gas pipeline under the contract with ZAO Yamalgazinvest, a subsidiary of OAO Gazprom.
The first line of the pipeline 209 km long was commissioned in December 2002. Construction of the second stage of the gas pipeline 188.7 km long was completed at the end of December 2002.
The third line of the gas pipeline is 188 km long of which 73 km have been constructed by OAO Stroytransgaz.
At present the company has completed the last tests at this section. For testing a complex of gas boosters was used. This technology provides for filling of the section under test with gas supplied from the gas line under operation by subsequent buildup of pressure in it up to the test one (8.25 MPa).
