OAO Stroytransgaz in Consortium with the Indian companies Essar Constructions Ltd. and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. has completed construction of the Baroda – Ahmedabad – Kalol gas pipeline 134 km long 24 inch in diameter in the state of Gujarat in India.

The owner and operator of the gas pipeline Gujarat State Petronet Ltd. is the customer of the project within the framework of implementation of the government program for provision of gas supply to the Ыtate of Gujarat during 2002-2006.

The Contract was concluded on EPC terms with the period of execution 12 months.

OAO Stroytransgaz was responsible for the management of the project, rendering technical assistance and quality control of the works performed. The Indian side executed design, supply of equipment and construction works.

Construction of the gas pipeline was hampered by geological and climatic peculiarities of the area. Considering complicated meteorological conditions (monsoons and dry seasons) the works on construction of the pipeline were to be stopped at every 15-20 meter intervals in order to restore the irrigation system.

At the beginning of May the last so called “red joint” of the Baroda – Ahmedabad – Kalol gas pipeline was welded. At the end of May it is planned to have the gas pipeline commissioned and connected to the Vapi – Vadnagar gas pipeline under construction with a total length more than 600 km. At present pre-commissioning works are being carried out: drying, gauging and pigging operations have been successfully completed.
