OAO STROYTRANSGAZ has completed the second stage of construction of the 325km long Russian section of Yamal – Europe gas pipeline from Torzhokskaya to Smolenskaya compressor station.

OAO STROYTRANSGAZ has completed the second stage of construction of the 325km long Russian section of Yamal – Europe gas pipeline from Torzhokskaya to Smolenskaya compressor station.

The second stage of the construction included providing electricity supply for all linear cathodic protection users and valve station control systems, including seven cathodic protection stations. A house for linear operator and a number of access roads to the linear facilities were also built.

In addition, during the second construction stage OAO STROYTRANSGAZ commissioned the last Russian gas pipeline 100km long section from Torzhok to Rzhev. By now commercial gas is exported through the entire Yamal-Europe pipeline section from the Torzhokskaya compressor station up to Polish-Byelorussian frontier.

Complete commissioning of infrastructural complex of the Russian section of the the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline is scheduled for the third quarter of this year. By that time works at the third stage are to be completed. They include construction of helipad, a second house for linear operator and accomplishment of tie-ins at Torzhokskaya, Rzhevskaya and Holm-Zhirovskaya compressor stations, construction of emergency pipe stock platforms and access roads to telemetric control points.

The Yamal – Europe gas pipeline section from Torzhok to Polish-Byelorussian frontier is 997 km. OAO Stroytransgaz carries out works in Russian and Byelorussian territories under general contracts with ZAO Yamalinvest which is an affiliate of OAO Gazprom and RUP Beltransgaz.

In December 2003 OAO Stroytransgaz completed the first stage of the construction and commissioned the scheduled complex of Yamal – Europe gas pipeline from Torzhok to Smolensk. Gas transportation began at the end of December 2003.
