The Indian Company Reliance Gas Transportation Infrastructure Ltd. signed a contract with PJSC Stroytransgaz for construction of the first two sections of the cross country East-West Gas Pipeline with total length of 1386 km.

Commencement of construction is planned for October 2006. Project implementation period is 15 months.

Pursuant to the Contract conditions PJSC Stroytransgaz will ensure construction of the first and second sections of the pipeline with lengths of 110 km and 188 km accordingly,  eight valve stations, a scraper launching station, a scraper receiver and launching station, and also will carry out designing of over 150 pipeline crossings over natural and man-made obstacles, delivery of equipment and materials.  

 The Contract value is 110 million USD.

The East-West pipeline shall provide for growing natural gas requirements of Central, Western and Northern states of India. Its route starts from an onshore gas processing terminal situated near the city of Kakinada, passes across the territories of the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and ends near the city of Bharuch.  

It will be the first gas pipeline in India to use at construction 48” pipes.

Taking into account 120 million tons oil requirements for its own refining capacity, RIL takes an active part in prospecting and development of hydrocarbons in India. With participation of the Company 21 fields of oil were stricken, the largest of which is situated at the deep-water block in the basin of Krishna-Godavari with the deposits of over 14 trillion cubic feet of gas.  Its development will make it possible to double the gas capacity of India. Raw materials from the field are planned to be piped through East-West Gas Pipeline.
