Tick-tock: on October 31, 2006, after bid evaluation the General Contract for construction of Southwest Cogeneration Plant in Saint Petersburg was awarded to PJSC Stroytransgaz.

On December 2, 2006, a solemn SWCP foundation stone ceremony has taken place in Saint Petersburg.

On February, 19, 2007, the General Contract for construction of Southwest Cogeneration Plant with total electric capacity 540 MW and heat power of 660 Gcal/h was signed.

Construction of combined heat power plant with all the buildings, facilities, equipment, internal engineering networks, communications and other installations will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will consist of the first start-up complex (1-st SC), including two hot-water boilers with heat power 120 Gcal/h, CCGT-200 (combined cycle gas turbine) with electric capacity 205 MW (two gas turbines, two waste-heat exchangers, steam turbine) with heat power of 135 Gcal/h.

The second phase will include three start-up complexes: 2-nd SC - CCGT-200 block with electric capacity 205 MW and heat power 135 Gcal/h, 3-rd SC – GTU (gas turbine unit) with electric capacity 67.5 MW and heat power 140 Gcal/h and 4-th SC – GTU with electric capacity 67.5 MW and heat power 140 Gcal/h.

Distinction of the project is the implementation of progressive combined cycle at power plant allowing to increase efficiency of energy producing and to reduce environmental impact. When built, the Southwest Cogeneration Plant will provide heat and electricity to some districts of Saint Petersburg.

Commissioning of the first start-up complex is planned for October, 2009. It is scheduled to commission prime objects of the 1-st SC in October, 2008, namely two water-heating boilers with heat power 120 Gcal/h.

In autumn-winter period of 2012 during the peak energy demand Southwest Cogeneration Plant should start functioning at design parameters.

The contract price is 16.5 billion rubles.

New power plant will become the second after Northwest Cogeneration Plant in Saint Petersburg, being provided with most modern equipment complying with last achievements in the field of power production.
