Regarding act of terrorism against employees of PJSC Stroytransgaz in Algeria

On March 3, 2007, in the territory of Ayn Defla willaya in Algeria Russian experts were carrying out works at the construction of gas main Suger – Hadjeret Ennus at section 169-171 kilometer, 6 km away from Derrag. The site is within 30-kilometer restricted area guarded by special military regiments of Algerian army. Transportation of specialists from living camps to the area and back is carried out under gendarmerie escort.
At 17.15 of the mentioned day, after termination of working hours the personnel occupied at the site left it and, on two vehicles, Ural and Mitsubishi, headed for living camps in Buayish and Djendel. When the vehicles were on the main road within the limits of restricted area both automobiles were blown up by 2 land mines. Mitsubishi has been covered by explosion and dumped into a ditch. Four people of ten who were in the car were killed. Among them there were one resident of Russia and three citizens of Algeria. Five people were wounded including one citizen of Russia and three citizens of Ukraine. All victims were urgently transported to local hospitals where they receive necessary medical aid.
Situation was discussed at an extraordinary Board session of PJSC Stroytransgaz. Assignments were given to corresponding departments to make representations to Algerian side on taking exhaustive measures considering strengthening of safety of Russian citizens. Sincere condolences were expressed to kinsfolk of the victims.
