Gas Pipeline Dahej-Uran was put into operation

Ceremony of putting into operation of the Gas Pipeline Dahej-Uran took place on July 14, 2007. The gas pipeline is located in the territory of two Indian states – Gujarat and Maharashtra. The pipeline shall be providing gas delivery to the largest in the country gas-fired power plant in Dabol, 180 km to the south of Mumbai.

PJSC Stroytransgaz as a member of the Consortium with Indian company Gammon India Ltd. constructed a section of the gas main 30” 108.8 km long; the total length of the pipeline is 395 km. Indian national gas company GAIL was the Customer of the Project. PJSC Stroytransgaz as the General Contractor fulfilled engineering, procurement and construction of the gas pipeline.  

Top management of companies involved into the Project i.e. Stroytransgaz, GAIL, Gammon India Ltd and First Deputy Minister of Oil and Gas of India Mr. M.S. Srinvasan participated in the solemn ceremony.

In his speech Mr. M.S. Srinvasan outlined the importance of the gas pipeline for provision with power resources of the country experiencing rapid economical growth. Mr. M.S. Srinvasan paid much attention to the work of the Consortium Stroytransgaz-GAMMON which completed construction of the section in time and with high quality despite heavy weather conditions and presence of many water and infrastructure obstacles along the route.

Many speakers pointed out high qualification of Russian experts. Implementation level of the Dahej-Uran Project shall be a good pattern for private companies in India.

Contract for construction of a section of the Dahej-Uran gas pipeline was signed by PJSC Stroytransgaz in June 2006.
The Project was divided by the Customer into three sections: the first section of 199 km (diameter 30”), the second section of 147 km (diameter 30”), the third section of 108.8 km (diameter 30”) with four branches 18” and 24” of total length 86 km. 
Construction of the main section of the gas pipeline was completed by PJSC Stroytransgaz in May 2007. As a Consortium Leader, PJSC Stroytransgaz shall carry out maintenance works on construction of branches. Completion of construction is envisaged in the end of the year 2007.
