Stroytransgaz Completes Underwater Passage for ESPO
Wednesday, June 04, 2008
Stroytransgaz has completed construction of the main line of a large underwater crossing of the Gila River along the Mogot-Tynda section of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean main oil pipeline.
The length of the underwater crossing – built using traditional trench-digging methods – is 1,358 meters; the diameter of the pipe – 1,220 millimeters. When the welding joints of the assembled section of the oil pipeline were tested using NDT, no defects were brought to light.
Stroytransgaz signed a contract for construction of the 87-kilometer Mogot-Tynda section at the end of 2007. This section is located along the ESPO route between the 2,522th-kilometer mark and the 2,620th-kilometer mark. At this time, welding has been carried out along 56 kilometers of the line part of the oil pipeline and a large portion has already been laid into the trench and covered with earth.
Additional information
Stroytransgaz has taken part in implementing the project to build the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline since 2006. The company is constructing five sections, totaling 405 kilometers, of the 2700-kilometer first line of the ESPO as well as the Skovorodino oil pumping station. The latter is located at the end of the first line. In order to fulfill the work, Stroytransgaz has engaged its subsidiaries Belstroytransgaz, Neftegazspetsstroy, Yuzhtruboprovodstroy, Neftegazstroikontrol, Stroytrangaz-Vostok and branches in Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Tynda, and Irkutsk.
The first phase of the ESPO is distinguished by its considerable length, absence of transportation and industrial infrastructure, and complex geographical, hydrological, and seismic conditions. Therefore, Stroytransgaz has devoted particular attention to the professional level of personnel in its construction divisions. The company was the first contracting organization in the ESPO project to obtain a certificate confirming that its quality management system complied with GOST R ISO 9001-2001 standards and with RD-03.120.10-KTN-038-07, the Requirements for Contracting Organizations in the Transneft System.
