President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, as part of an official visit to Brazil, visited the central offices of the country’s largest state-owned oil and gas company, Petrobras. Joining the president in that visit were Chairman of the Management Board of Stroytransgaz Vyacheslav Makhonin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Denisov, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Vladimir Tyurdenev.

As part of the official visit to Peru by President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, which took place on November 22-24, discussions were held between representatives of the Peruvian business community and those of Russian businesses. Chairman of the Management Board Vyacheslav Makhonin was among the delegation of Russian businessmen taking part in those discussions.

Stroytransgaz has begun welding-assembly work on a new section, the sixth, of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline. This section is situated in the area of Olyokminsk in the Republic of Sahka (Yakutia).

Stroytransgaz has passed a recertification audit of its environmental management system. The audit examined the conformance of the company’s practices with international standard ISO 14001:2004. After the audit was finalized, Stroytransgaz received a new certificate broadening its range of operations. To construction work in the oil and gas complex and industrial and civil construction, the new certificate adds construction in the electric power industry.

The Permanent Russian-Syrian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation completed its sixth session yesterday. Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Igor Schegolev headed the representatives of the Russian side, while Minister of Economy and Trade of the Syrian Arab Republic Amer Hosni Lutfi led the Syrian delegation. Stroytransgaz First Vice-President Leonid Bokhanovsky participated in the intergovernmental commission’s session.

Stroytransgaz has begun work on a new section of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline –the sixth, which is located in Olyokminsk in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The company received a contract for the construction work in late October 2008.

The first inspection to test conformance of Stroytransgaz’s corporate quality management system with the STO Gazprom standard 9001-2006 was held on October 27-30, 2008. The inspection included the company’s headquarters and subsidiary organizations in Moscow, Moscow Oblast, and Krasnodar as well as the Novy Urengoy gas-chemical complex. Construction at the latter facility is currently underway.

The Russian-Algerian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation held its third session on November 6, 2008, in Moscow. Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Shmatko led the Russian delegation, while Algerian Minister of Finance Karim Dzhudi headed the Algerian delegation.
