St. Petersburg Meeting Gives Yugo-Zapadnaya Cogeneration Plant a Boost

St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko and Chairman of the Management Board of Stroytransgaz Alexander Ryazanov participated a meeting on the construction of Yugo-Zapadnaya cogeneration plant which was held in the city of St. Petersburg on August 17, 2009.

Alexander Ryazanov has informed the Governor of the project execution status. After the inspection of the site the Governor has pointed out the urgent necessity of the project prompt start-up, which will enable to compensate for the shortfall in heating and electric energy and to promote the housing construction in the northern capital.

Additional information
Stroytransgaz fulfills the functions of general contractor. The contract includes engineering, procurement, construction, and finishing work. The investor was changed at the end of 2008, and the city administration has undertaken all the obligations associated with the project.
Design capacity of the cogeneration plant is 570 MW of electricity and 660 Gcal/hour of heat per year. The first phase of the project will have a capacity of 200 MW of electricity and 255 Gcal/h of heat and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2010.
At present construction and installation activities are being executed as per the project construction schedule.
