Additional Information
South Middle Area Gas Exploitation Project is a second major project executed by Stroytransgaz in Syria (after the Arab Gas Pipeline from the Jordan-Syrian border to Homs).

In 2005 Stroytransgaz won the international tender bids announced by Syrian Gas Company for development of South Middle Area Gas Exploitation Project Phase I. The contract was signed on the 5th of December, 2005 on EPC terms.

The work performed by Stroytransgaz included developing well sites and installing separators for preliminary gas treatment  at three fields (Abo Rabah, North Al Faid, and Qomqom), construction of gathering pipelines from wells to the preliminary separators and to the gas processing plant, tie-ins to active gas and oil pipelines, and racks for loading of the liquefied gas into tank trucks.

This is the largest industrial project in the Syrian oil and gas industry. With the annual processing of 2,6 BCMPA of natural gas, the annual output will amount to 2,2 billion cubic meters of commercial natural gas, 38,5 thousand cubic meters of liquefied propane-butane, and 230 thousand cubic meters of gas condensate.
