Russian Stroitransgaz To Build Czech Bit Of Nord Stream Pipe

PRAGUE (Dow Jones) – Russian gas pipeline builder Stroitransgaz Monday said it has won a contract from the Czech subsidiary of RWE AG (RWEOY) for the construction of a Czech section of the Nord Stream pipeline network.

The new 158-kilometer-long pipeline, called Gazelle, is to link the existing Czech pipeline network, operated by RWE's Czech unit RWE Transgas AS, with the new gas pipeline connecting Russia's Baltic coast with northern Germany through an underwater link.

RWE Transgas-owned Net4Gas s.r.o. is the developer of the Gazelle pipeline project which also includes the construction of a border exchange and control station, located in the town of Hora Sv. Kateriny, some 122 kilometers northwest of Prague on the Czech-German border.

No financial details of the contract were disclosed.
