Russian engineering company Stroytransgaz is expected to bid in a tender to rebuild the Kirkuk–Banias oil pipeline in Iraq, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko told reporters Friday.
Launched in 1952, the Kirkuk–Banias pipeline links the Iraqi city of Kirkuk with the Syrian port of Banias. The pipeline has two stretches measuring a total of around 800 kilometers.
Founded in 1990, Stroytransgaz is one of the largest engineering companies in Russia’s oil and gas industry.
