Yamal–Europe
The need to increase the volume of Russian gas exported to Western Europe set parameters for development of the shortest route for delivery from the fields of Tyumen Oblast to European consumers. The Yamal–Europe gas pipeline became one of the twentieth century’s largest main lines: the total length of the system — 4,107 kilometers.
Yamalgazinvest amd Beltransgaz were the customers in Russia and Belarus, respectively.
Stroytransgaz fulfilled the functions of general contractor. In addition to constructing the line parts of the Russia–Belarus span, 977 kilometers, our company built four compressor stations: Smolensk (96 MW), Nesvizh (80 MW), Orshansk (80 MW), Slonimsk (80 MW).
As general contractor, Stroytransgaz completed several sections of the SRTO–Torzhok gas pipeline, a 630-kilometer line of the Yamal–Europe system, whose diameter is 1,420 millimeters. Construction and assembly works, installation of CP, telemichanization and other facilities were included within the scope of the general contractor’s work.
The project was completed in 2006.
Technology
-
Stroytransgaz used stress testing to examine the line part of the gas pipeline.
-
The northernmost section of the SRTO–Torzhok is very boggy and contains a large number of rivers, necessitating subsurface-technical work. We used non-lifting placement of ballasted pipeline to overcome these problems.
