Baltic Pipeline System-2 oil pipeline
In 2009 Stroytransgaz signed a general contract with Transneft for the construction of a section of the main oil pipeline of the Baltic Pipeline System-2 (BPS-2) and an intermediate pumping station No7. BPS-2 capacity will reach 30 million tonnes of oil annually. The 190.1-kilometre pipeline section with the diameter of 1,067 millimeters will be laid via the territory of the Novgorod Oblast. Intermediate pumping station No7 will be located in 40 kilometers from Veliky Novgorod.
In addition to the line part of the pipeline construction, the contract included construction of 74 pipeline’s crossings over rivers, highways, railways and communication lines, 5 inline and 8 riverside valves, a launching and receiving unit, a 10-kV electric power line along the pipe section, and building and installing all pumping facilities: trunk pumping station, cable racks, process pipelines, fire extinguishing systems, water supply and sewage systems, administrative facilities, helicopter pad, etc.
The project has to be completed in 2012.
Note
In 2008 Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed an order on the construction of BPS-2 on the route Unecha (Bryansk Oblast)–Ust-Luga (Leningrad Oblast) with the length of about 1,170 km with a branch to the Kirishi oil refinery – another 172 kilometers.
BPS-2 has two phases. The first phase has capacity of 30 million tonnes a year. The second – 50 million tones a year. Seven new oil pumping stations will be build within the framework of the BPS-2 project, as well as the existing Unecha and Andreapol oil pumping stations will be reconstructed. The project is planned to be completed in December 2013.
