Kalinin nuclear power plant
Stroytransgaz has been chosen to participate in the federal target program Development of the Nuclear Energy Industry of Russia for 2007–2010 and the Future to 2015. The company carried out construction and assembly work for energy block №4 of the Kalinin nuclear power plant. The reactor model is В-320 (modification ВВЭР-1000). Energy generating capacity of the facility is 1,000 MW and heating power – 3,000 МW.
The Federal Agency for Atomic Energy is customer for the project. Its general contractor is the federal governmental enterprise NIAEP. Stroytransgaz started the construction of the fourth energy block of KNPP while being the main contractor for the construction of the main building of the energy block and hydro-engineering facilities. The scope of work included the construction of over 20 energy block facilities. Stroytransgaz performed the following:
- Building-assembly and complete renovation-reconstruction work at the reactor compartments for energy block No. 4
- Building-assembly work at the start-up complex of energy block No. 4: machine and deaerator area, cooling system incorporating a cooling tower, pumping station at the cooling tower with influent channel, water pipelines for turbine and non-critical water supply, closed discharge channel, and other components
The implemented construction works had the first category of difficulty. To carry out the project, Stroytransgaz established the production branch in Udomlya and invested 300 million RUR in the property, plant and equipment, including the purchase of unique tower crane KROLL-К10000 with two crane arms, 146 meters high and lifting capacity up to 240 tons, which considerably reduced the time of the energy block construction. Stroytransgaz mobilized over 1,000 specialists of 19 different areas of expertise.
Work was completed in 2011.
Background
The Kalinin nuclear power plant is located in Udomlya Rayon of Tver Oblast and provides all the central territories of Russia with power energy. In 1991, the construction of the fourth energy block was suspended and was not renewed until 2007.
