Karashursk underground gas storage

In 1997 Stroytransgaz concluded a contract as general contractor with Gazprom to fulfill an entire complex of construction-assembly work for the Karashursk underground gas storage facility in the Udmurt Republic.

The Karashursk unit is the first underground gas storage facility in the Udmurt reservoir complex. This engineering-technical structure is outfitted with the latest equipment, meeting both Russian and international environmental standards.

The facility has design capacity to accommodate 640 million cubic meters of gas; its maximum daily throughput is 7.5 million cubic meters of gas, and maximum daily input is 4.7 million cubic meters using 25 exploitation wells. In the future, the reservoir complex will have an active capacity of 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas.

There are two UGS-10 Ural gas-compressor units, a gas distribution station, gas pipelines, and gas pipeline branches within the complex that Stroytransgaz erected. The underground gas storage complex was entered into exploitation in 2003.
