Zapadno-Ozernoe gas-condensate field

In 2001 Stroytransgaz concluded a contract with Sibneft to develop the Zapadno-Ozernoe gas-condensate field. Its reserves are estimated at approximately five billion cubic meters, and the project has design capacity of 200 billion cubic meters per year. The field is 100 kilometers from Anadyr, Chukotka.

The project was undertaken to provide gas to Anadyr, where it is to be used in local boiler rooms currently fired with fuel oil and for centralized provision of “blue fuel”.
Stroytransgaz mobilized 83 units of large construction machinery and purchased 110 kilometers of pipe to realize the project. The company built housing for 100 individuals.

In executing its work, Stroytransgaz built a number of objects:

  • Seven-inch diameter pipeline running 104.2 kilometers from the gas processing facility to the gas distribution station in Anadyr
  • Gas processing facility
  • Automated gas distribution station
  • Well clusters
  • Gas gathering manifold
  • Helicopter pad
  • Various infrastructure within the site
  • Storage depots
  • Civil structures

The project to develop the Zapadno-Ozernoe gas-condensate field was complicated. Geological and climatic conditions were difficult, restricting work to the winter period and requiring the team to contend with an overabundance of lakes and rivers. In addition, the territory to be developed had not been prepared nor exploited previously. The gas pipeline route crossed flat marshland with intersections of 76 water barriers.

The project was completed in 2002.
